Basketball Signs Two All-Conference California Junior College Prospects

He finished the season as one of the top scorers in the region, averaging 18.3 points per game. He also added 6.9 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game and snagged 1.8 steals per game He shot 53 percent from the field, 38 percent from three, and 75 percent from the free throw line. When asked about his recent commitment, Josh said, "HPU felt like home. Not only am I playing the game I love every day, but part of my family is here as well. From the jump Coach Nak and I created a really close bond. The guys have welcomed me with open arms, and we are super excited to get this next season going. I can't wait to start my new journey and go to war with my brothers!"
Josh's head coach, Jordan Lee (2022-23 CCCAA NorCal Coach of the Year) had this to say about Josh: "He is so selfless, he is the epitome of a team player. He is always asking how he can be better for his teammates, and he cares more about team success than his own personal success. He has an infectious positive attitude. Hawaii Pacific is getting a great leader and a versatile wing."

Miles Lewis, a 6'0 guard, also received Bay Valley Conference First Team All-Conference honors. Known for his dangerous scoring ability and unselfish play making, Miles finished the season averaging 13.9 points per game, 4.8 assists per game, and 2.7 rebounds per game. Like Josh, Miles was also very efficient scoring the basketball. He shot 51 percent from the field, 39 percent from three, and 75 percent from the free throw line. "I chose HPU as my home because I think it'll be the perfect place to continue my journey in education and athletics," said Miles. The family culture, being in a new environment, and playing in one of the best D2 conferences in the country are all things that make HPU the best fit for me. I'm looking forward to being a Shark!" Contra Costa head coach Miguel Johnson said that "Miles' heart is immeasurable. He is very humble, hardworking, and a great teammate on and off the court. He's an explosive scorer that makes everyone around him better."

Interim Head Coach, Jesse Nakanishi stated, "I couldn't be more excited about these two young men joining our HPU family! They both come in with proven track records of high-level production, elite work ethic, and sound leadership. They will fit perfectly into the HPU culture as we kickstart this new era of Shark Basketball!"
