Women's Tennis Downs PLNU 4-0 to Advance to PacWest Championship Match

Box Score SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Hawaii Pacific University women's tennis team defeated Point Loma 4-0 to advance to the PacWest Championship match Friday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex.

The Sharks narrowly defeated the Sea Lions in a tiebreaker to win the doubles point but would cruise to three wins in the singles to take the match.

Doubles Competition
Abigail Wild and Elodie Busson continue to be the best duo in the PacWest as they crushed Angelique Friedrich and Joelle Lanz 6-1. Pipa Shaline and Marleen Tilgner fell to Arianna Audelo and Thiema Sepulveda on court one with the deciding match on court three coming down to a tiebreaker. Nicole Ballach and Mihoki Miyahara led 5-3 before losing three games putting them behind 6-5. They battled through to force a tiebreaker and got the jump early and were able to close it out 8-6 for the clinch.

Singles Competition
Shaline made quick work on court one with a decisive 6-3, 6-3 victory. Tilgner followed suit with a 6-3, 6-3 win as well. Lastly, Miyahara got it done on court five in straight sets 6-0,7-5.

Up Next
For the third year in a row, the PacWest Championship will see HPU taking on Azusa Pacific. The first serve is set for 6:00 am HT.
