BELLINGHAM, Wash. - On Tuesday morning the HPU men's golf team finished up day two of competition at the 2023 Western Washington University Invitational. It was a highly contested field of 11 squads that saw 1st-4th within nine strokes each other and 5th-8th by merely four. Hawai'i Pacific would save their best for last with a 7-over-par 295 in the third round of action.
After battling the elements last week in Lacey the Sharks looked to finish their trip to Washington with a strong outing in Bellingham. Hawai'i Pacific would cut their placement from the past outing in half with a solid fifth place finish that featured three teams ranked in the
Barry Tops 2023-24's First Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll (#12 Western Washington, #20 Chico State, and #23 Simon Fraser).
Miles Atkinson would lead the way for HPU finishing 5-over par which would help the sophomore end the tournament tied for 17th in the 67-player field. Only one stroke behind,
Shion Suzuki would give Hawai'i Pacific their second top-20 finish for the day. The duo would also go 1-under par 71 in the first round, joining only first place Simon Fraser as the only teams to have multiple players under par in the first 72 holes.
