The Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) Women's Softball team is gearing up for an action-packed 2025 season, featuring a formidable 56-game lineup. With 36 games against PacWest Conference opponents and 20 non-conference matchups, the Sharks are set to dive headfirst into a challenging schedule that promises to push them to new heights.

The 2025 season brings exciting changes to the PacWest, as the conference welcomes three new schools—Vanguard University, William Jessup University, and Menlo College. This expansion introduces a fresh, three-game series format, giving HPU the opportunity to face off against all eight California-based teams, as well as local rivals Chaminade University and UH-Hilo in a home-and-away setup.

Exhibition Warm-Up

Fans won't have to wait long to see the Sharks in action, as HPU will host two exhibition games at their new home field at Sand Island State Recreation Area (SRA) on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The team kicks things off against Fullerton College at 11:00 a.m., and later faces UH-Hilo at 3:00 p.m. These exhibition contests serve as a valuable tune-up before the official start of the season.

Coach Lono's Take

Head Coach Lono believes the rigorous schedule is exactly what the team needs to prepare for a successful postseason run. "To be the best, you have to compete against the best," she shared. "We receive a lot of interest from teams wanting to play here in Hawaii, but we (HPU, Chaminade, and Hilo) are very selective about who we schedule. This year's lineup will really test us."

Season Begins on the Mainland

The Sharks will kick off their regular season at Concordia University's Invitational Tournament from January 31 to February 2, 2025, at Great Parks in Irvine, California. They'll stay on the road to take on Cal State San Marcos in a doubleheader on February 3 before heading back to Honolulu.

Home Opener & Alumnae Game

HPU's long-awaited home opener will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. against Cal Poly Humboldt. Fans can also mark their calendars for the team's annual Alumnae Game at Sand Island SRA on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.—a chance to reconnect with past players and celebrate the history of HPU Softball.
