HONOLULU, Hawai'i — Hawai'i Pacific earned a split against Chaminade on Saturday, taking game one 6-2 before falling 10-2 in the second game at Silversword Field.
The Sharks set the tone early in game one, scoring in the first two innings and building momentum behind a balanced offensive effort. Olympia Jara led the way with two RBIs, while Alexis Oshiro and Taryn Hirano each drove in runs to help extend the lead.
A decisive fifth inning proved to be the difference, as HPU plated three runs to take full control of the game. Lily Pardini delivered a complete-game performance in the circle, allowing just two runs on nine hits to secure the win.
In game two, Hawai'i Pacific struck first with two runs in the opening inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Danielle Cote and a run scoring on a Chaminade error.
Chaminade responded with a big first inning and continued to add on, using a strong offensive showing to pull away. The Sharks collected seven hits in the game, with Alexis Oshiro and Brianna Rodela each recording multiple hits.
With the split, Hawai'i Pacific moves to 7-33 overall and 4-27 in PacWest play.
