HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific split its four-game series with Menlo at Sand Island, winning both games on Monday before dropping a pair on Tuesday.
The Sharks opened the series with an 11-9 comeback win in game one. After falling behind 6-1 through two innings, HPU answered with two runs in the third before erupting for eight runs in the fifth to take control. Naomi Cummings delivered a key two-run single in the inning, while Taryn Hirano, Alexis Oshiro, Olympia Jara, Jade Retuta, and Saunette Oshiro each drove in runs during the rally. Miquela Leopoldo added a two-run double earlier in the game, and Cummings earned the win in relief.
Hawai'i Pacific followed with a 3-2 win in game two. Alexis Oshiro drove in the first run with an RBI double in the opening inning and later delivered the walk-off RBI single in the seventh. Saunette Oshiro added a sacrifice fly in the second, and Angelica Oseguera picked up the win in relief after allowing just one unearned run over the final 3.1 innings.
On Tuesday, Menlo took game three by a 10-8 score. The Oaks jumped out to an early lead, but the Sharks answered with an eight-run third inning to move in front. Makayla Pagampao, Danielle Cote, Taimane Panganoran, and Felicia Tanno all recorded RBIs in the inning, while Jade Retuta added a sacrifice fly. Menlo answered with three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to retake the lead.
In the series finale, Menlo earned a 9-5 win. Hawai'i Pacific cut into an early deficit with three runs in the third inning and added another in the seventh, but the Oaks pulled away with runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh. Miquela Leopoldo, Danielle Cote, Makayla Pagampao, Maddy Gonzalez, and Taimane Panganoran each drove in runs for the Sharks.
Hawai'i Pacific finished the series with a 2-2 split, highlighted by a pair of Monday wins and multiple late-game offensive pushes throughout the four games.
