LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Hawai'i Pacific University women's golf team earns PacWest Team of the Week with Senior
Kameron Kwong taking home PacWest Player of the Week.
This comes after the Sharks broke the program's 13-year drought and delivered their first tournament win as a program, as well as their first individual tournament champion at the RCA Electric Invitational hosted by Menlo University. The only other time the Sharks took the top spot was in a 2015-16 dual match between NAIA Doane University (Neb.).Â
Senior
Kameron Kwong led the Sharks by going just nine over par across the three rounds, shooting 222. Kwong goes into the Sharks' record book as their first women's golf tournament champion and the first women's golfer to earn the PacWest Player of the Week honor.Â
The team of freshman Isabella Iorio, senior
Shuiyun He, sophomore Giuliana Rovetti, and freshman Paige Sur helped bring in the Sharks' second PacWest Team of the Week in program history. The Sharks delivered in devastating fashion, finishing 30 strokes under their next closest competitor, Dominican University (Calif.), with a score of 895.
