Menlo, CA - The HPU softball team won 1 out of 3 games against Menlo this past weekend bringing them to a 6-10 record in conference play. The Sharks were defeated in the first game 10-1, but bounced back to win the 2nd game 3-0 before falling 9-4 in the final game of the series.
Game 1
Menlo jumped out to an early 4-0 lead going into the 3rd inning. HPU was able to get one back on an RBI walk but Menlo was able to run away with it from there, scoring 6 unanswered runs to put the game away.
Game 2
HPU took the second game behind a masterful performance in the circle from
Taylor Thompson, who went 7 scoreless for a complete game shutout striking out 7 hitters. A
Jewel Larson double got the Sharks on the board in the 3rd inning and were able to push 2 more runs across on a single from
Alexis Oshiro in the 4th.
Game 3
Menlo just out early in game 3 with a big first inning but the Sharks battled back by manufacturing runs to make it a 4-4 game heading into the 5th inning. Menlo was able to push across 4 runs in the 5th to put the game away.
The Sharks will look to pick up some big conference wins this week as they play Academy of Art March 17th and 18th.
