Surprise, AZ - HPU Women's Tennis is off to an incredible start in the conference tournament, beating Art U 4-0 yesterday and Concordia Irvine 4-1 today. After a great regular season filled with awards for the Sharks, they have continued to perform and look to make a run deep into the postseason.

Upon the conclusion of the regular season. Sayda Hernandez won newcomer of the year for the Sharks while also making second team all-conference. Evi Roobol also was a second team all-conference nominee, while the doubles teams of Sayda Hernandez and Annika Hakovirta, and Evi Roobol and Emily Castillo were second team all-conference and third team respectively.

The Sharks steamrolled Art U in a dominating performance which saw the Sharks win every singles and doubles match. They continued to build off a strong regular season and won the crucial first match in the tournament.

HPU built off their strong performance in the first match and got another crucial victory against Concordia. Evi Roobol and Sayda Hernandez continued to impress, winning their singles matches, while the all-conference combination of Sayda Hernandez and AnnikaÂ
Hakovirta breezed through their doubles set to lead the Sharks to victory.

The Sharks will take on Point Loma in the semifinals tomorrow, looking to advance to the Championship the following day.
