HPU Men’s Tennis Rallies Past Fresno Pacific, 5-2

FRESNO, Calif. – The Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Fresno Pacific on Friday morning, winning five of six singles matches after dropping the doubles point.

The Sharks picked up their lone doubles win on court three where Adam Vasir and Matteo Perrod defeated Ryan Okamoto and Tristan Bangert 6-2.

HPU responded strongly in singles play, beginning with a dominant performance from Arthur Pery on court six. The sophomore cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Juan Salinas Beltran to even the match.

Ethan Terry followed with a straight-set win on court three, defeating Alejandro Espana 6-4, 6-1 to give the Sharks their first lead of the day.

Adam Vasir added another point for Hawai'i Pacific with a pair of tiebreak wins on court one, edging Connor Kaufmann 7-6, 7-6 in a tightly contested match.

Rene Gabriel Jung delivered a comeback victory on court five, bouncing back after dropping the opening set to defeat Tristan Bangert 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Seth Newman secured the final point for the Sharks on court four, rallying for a three-set win over Jorge Gonzalez 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.

Mile Matic battled in a three-set match on court two but ultimately fell to Emil Seelbach 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.

With the victory, Hawai'i Pacific continued its strong showing as the Sharks move forward in their weekend competition.
