Hugo Gonzalez is a middle infielder and utility player from San Diego, California. He graduated from Rancho Bernardo High School, where he was a four-year varsity baseball player under head coach Jeff Baumback. Gonzalez also played three years of varsity football. During his high school career, he earned Athlete of the Year, Bronco Award and Sportsmanship Award honors and served as a peer counselor, Bronco Ambassador and member of ASB.

Gonzalez enjoys cooking, going to the beach, golfing, dancing, photography and spending time with friends and loved ones. His favorite foods include steak, chicken tostadas and Spam musubi, while his favorite movies are Forrest Gump and The Fast and the Furious. He listens to Drake, Don Toliver and Frank Ocean, and his favorite athletes are LeBron James, Manny Machado and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In 10 years, Gonzalez hopes to still be playing baseball professionally. He chose HPU because of family ties, a winning culture and the opportunity to play in an enjoyable environment.
