Skye Savini scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but it was not enough as HPU fell to UC San Diego 82-65.
Hawai'i Pacific took the first lead of game, but it would be short lived as UCSD took a 12-4 lead with 17:34 left in the first half. At the break, UCSD extended its lead to 15 points. HPU got the lead to within nine at 54-63, but could not draw any closer.
Mana Hopkins registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Taiyande Huskey grabbed seven rebounds to go with her five points.
Kathryn Tolbert added eight points off the bench.
HPU had a 17-18 advantage in turnovers, but UCSD had four more rebounds. UCSD shot 42% (28-66) from the field while HPU managed 38% (25-66). HPU went cold from beyond the arc, missing all nine shots.
HPU drops to 2-2 on the season while UCSD moves to 3-0. UCSD's Daisey Feder had a team-high 15 points.
HPU plays tomorrow against Alaska-Fairbanks at 3 PM in Hilo.
