HPU to Memorialize Kameron Steinhoff

Honolulu, HI (November 22, 2011) – Hawai'i Pacific will honor the memory of Kameron Steinhoff before Friday's men's basketball game at the Neal Blaisdell Center. All ticket revenue will go to Kam's Helmets, HPU's organization that provides helmets to students.

HPU will celebrate Kameron's life with his family at 6:30 PM, preceding HPU's game vs. Western New Mexico. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students/seniors and free for HPU students and staff.

Steinhoff died from brain injuries resulting from a skateboarding accident that occurred in May in Kaneohe. Steinhoff was a three-year member of the HPU men's basketball team after starring at Punahou High School.

Steinhoff joined HPU for the 2008-2009 season which he redshirted. Over the next two years he played in 51 games. This past season he averaged four points and three rebounds a game. In February of 2010, Steinhoff scored a career-high 13 points in an overtime win over Dominican.

“Kameron was an outstanding person in many ways, he was a great basketball player but equally important he was a great student at HPU. Most importantly, he was a tremendous teammate and friend to everyone who knew him,” said HPU basketball coach Darren Vorderbruegge.
