St. George, UT (February 19, 2011) – Hawai'i Pacific could not get defensive stops in the second half, and lost 79-65 to Dixie State in a contest between the region's elite. HPU led for the majority of the first half by playing strong defense, limiting Dixie State to just 10-36 shooting. The second half saw Dixie State score 46 points on the way to the win.
HPU suffered from foul trouble, Jazzmin Awa-Williams, Mana Hopkins, and Katelyn Urquhart all fouled out of the game. Courtney Buster filled the void with 16 points and 12 rebounds, her fifth double-double of the season, which is also the most in school history. Skye Savani led the Sea Warriors with 31 minutes of playing time, she scored 14 points. Despite the foul trouble, Hopkins had 13.
Johnna Brown scored a career-high 27 points to lead Dixie State.
The Sea Warriors are now 16-6 overall and 10-3 in the conference. The Red Storm are now 20-2, 10-1
HPU gets a rematch against Dixie State at the Neal Blaisdell Center on February 28th, but first the Sea Warriors play at Chaminade on Friday night at 5:30 P.M.
