Kaneohe, HI (March 18, 2011) – Breanne Patton has been dominant all season, today she was literally unhittable. Patton narrowly missed a perfect game, allowing two base runners in seven innings in Hawai'i Pacific's 2-0 win in game one over BYU-H. HPU's bats stepped up in game two, posting 14 runs in a mercy rule shortened 14-0 win.
Patton would not need much support, as she moves to 10-0 on the season, pitching her seventh shutout. Kozy Toraino and Maile Kim got the RBI hits for HPU, for Kim it was her 18th RBI in 18 games. Caira Pires had a solid showing at the plate, collecting two hits.
In game two, HPU jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning, and led by 10 after the third. Toraino and Pires had two more hits in the game. Kim, Alyssa Aipa, Charisse Tanabe, and Melissa Awa all had two RBI each in the HPU rout. Melissa Kirby threw her first complete game shutout of the season, scattering three hits over five innings.
