HPU Softball to Host West Regional

Honolulu, HI (May 9, 2011) – For the second consecutive year Hawai'i Pacific will host one of the NCAA West Regionals at Howard A. Okita Field. The defending champion Sea Warriors open the postseason against Cal State San Bernardino on May 13th at noon.

The West Two Regional will feature HPU as the top seed followed by Sonoma State, Dixie State and Cal State San Bernardino. Sonoma State and Dixie State will play at 2:30 P.M. on Friday following the HPU-CSSB match-up. Game three features Friday's winners on Saturday at 11 A.M. The losing teams will play in game four's elimination game at 1:30 P.M. The loser of game three will play the winner of game four in another elimination game at 4:00 P.M. The championship game will take place at noon on Sunday with the second game at 2:30 P.M. if necessary.

On April 2nd HPU defeated Cal State San Bernardino 8-6 in the Tournament of Champions in Turlock, CA. Breanne Patton got the win giving up one earned run, Caira Pires and Patton hit back-to-back home runs in the win. HPU is 3-1 against Dixie State this season and also beat Sonoma State 3-1 in the Tournament of Champions.
