Kaneohe, HI (September 29, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific women's soccer team got back on track today with a 2-0 win over Grand Canyon University in PacWest action at Atherton Field.
Andrea Aguirre and
KaUa Wall both scored goals in the win.
At the 31:34 mark of the first half, Aguirre got HPU on the board.
Jacqueline Ho had the ball in great position and GCU's keeper responded by defending Ho. However, Ho got the ball to Aguirre who sent the ball into the empty net. Early in the second half, Wall scored on her second of two rapid fire shots. Her first shot was stopped, but the keeper could not secure the ball and Wall put the rebound in.
Carianne Makino was great in goal, racking up 12 saves, several of them spectacular. As good as the defense was, luck was also on HPU's side. GCU had three shots hit off the post.
HPU is 6-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the PacWest.
HPU hosts BYU-Hawai'i on Saturday at Atherton Field at 12:30 P.M.
