Women’s Basketball Bounces Back

Box Score Honolulu, HI (January 5, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific women's basketball team defeated Chaminade University 88-55 in a PacWest road contest. Paris Gravely paced the Sea Warriors with 26 points.

HPU also got 20 points from Mana Hopkins, who recorded another double-double with 10 rebounds. Taiyande Huskey added 14 points, passed out six assists and recorded six steals. Melody Ladrido also posted double figures with 10 points. Susannah Walmsley had a team-high seven assists to go with nine points. Gravely also grabbed seven rebounds.

The HPU defense was outstanding, forcing 30 Chaminade turnovers and allowing the Silverswords to only shoot 40% (16-40) from the field. HPU, conversely, shot a robust 52% (35-68). HPU held a 34-27 advantage on the glass. HPU was also efficient from long range, converting 12-25 (48%).

HPU is now 8-5 and 2-1 in the PacWest.

Chaminade is now 0-8 and 0-2 in the PacWest. The 'Swords were led by Glacen Florita who scored 16 points.

HPU next faces BYU-Hawai'i on January 10th at 4:30 pm at the Neal Blaisedell Center.
