Hilo, HI (February 19, 2012) – When darkness fell yesterday the Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis team was leading UH-Hilo 3-0, when the sun came up on Sunday, HPU won 11 more matches without losing one. With the pair of wins on Sunday, HPU is now 3-0.
On Saturday, HPU made a clean sweep of doubles play. It was
Petr Michnev and
Patric Guenther at first single that pulled off an impressive 8-2 victory. With only two points needed to seal the match, it was a race to finish. Michnev and
Adriano Locorotondo both took straight sets victories.
HPU was dominant in doubles on Sunday with both teams of Michnev/Guenther and
Stephan Weling/Gerald Moretti blanking their opponents 8-0. HPU was perfect in singles with all Sea Warriors winning in straight sets. Moretti won most decisively at fifth singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
