Azusa, CA (February 23, 2012) – In the second doubleheader of the road trip, Hawai'i Pacific (7-3) split with Azusa Pacific University (11-3). HPU used the long ball in game one,
Nicole Morrow and
Brittany Fenumiai both homered in the 8-5 win. HPU again went extra innings in game two and lost 7-6.
HPU jumped out in front in game one, in the first inning Fenumiai ripped a RBI single. Azusa Pacific would counter with a run in the first and two more in the second. HPU would retie the game in the fourth inning on Morrow's two-run blast. HPU then took a three run lead in the fifth inning on Fenumiai three-run round tripper. APU scratched out single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it interesting. HPU scored two more runs in the top of the seventh to seal the game.

Maile Kim and Morrow each had two hits for the Sea Warriors. Fenumiai led the team with four RBI.
Breanne Patton pitched another complete game, allowing five runs in seven innings. She also had a RBI at the plate.
In game two, HPU fell in a three-run hole by the time it got its at bat in the third inning. HPU hung five runs on the board in the third, highlighted by a two-run bomb by Kim. APU would score a run in the third and fourth innings to tie the game at five. A Fenumiai RBI single broke the tie in the sixth, only to see APU tie it again in the seventh and then win it in the eighth.
Tesoro led HPU with three hits, Kim and
Erin Fujita each had two.
Melissa Kirby got the loss after giving up seven runs in seven and two-thirds innings, although only five of the runs were earned.
All of HPU's three losses this season have come in its opponents' last at bat.
HPU next plays California Baptist in a doubleheader on Saturday in Riverside, CA at noon PST.
