Women’s Soccer Dropped on Road

Bellingham, WA (September 4, 2012) - The Hawai'i Pacific women's soccer team (1-1) suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Simon Frasier University (1-1) in Bellingham, Washington by the score of 1-0.

The Sea Warriors enjoyed a six to three advantage in shots in the first half; unfortunately none of the shots were on net, often sailing high or wide. Despite dominating on the stat sheet HPU would find itself down a goal at halftime when Clan forward Aja Choy-Halo found the back of the net with only 70 seconds remaining in the first half.

Down a goal in the second half, HPU would again force the issue, this time mustering seven shots while only allowing three to Simon Frasier. As with the first half, the Sea Warriors found it difficult to finish as Clan Keeper Amanda Gilliland made three saves and HPU midfielder Andrea Aguirre hit the crossbar in the 82nd minute.

Aguirre led the way for HPU registering four shots in the match while Megan Fuller took three. The Sea Warriors would finish with 13 shots in the match, only three of which were on goal.

The road trip continues September 6th against Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
