HPU hit .318 for the match (as opposed to .118 for NDNU), in large part due to its superior passing.
"For the third straight night we had really good serve receive passing. Â That opened up our offense to showcase our talent," said Head Coach
Daryl Kapis. "We were very consistent all night long; it is good to see that we are still improving as the season beings to draw to a close."
The first set started off tight as the two teams were tied 11 times by the 14th point. At 14-14
Kasey Thompson gave HPU the lead with a kill. Thompson would get another kill, and some help from her teammates, as HPU took six straight points to lead 20-14. After a service error on HPU, the Sea Warriors continued the onslaught by earning the next five points and a 25-15 victory.
The Sea Warriors were staggered after the bell rang in the second set. NDNU doubled up HPU to lead 12-6. After an HPU timeout, the Sea Warriors reeled off seven of the next nine points capped by a
Haley Doerfler kill. NDNU kept up the pressure however and reclaimed a four-point advantage at 19-15. HPU then got another extended run to end to set; the 10-2 spurt featured two more kills from Doerfler.
HPU jumped out in front in the third set and never looked back. HPU led 7-3 and then 11-5 to dash any hope of an Argonaut comeback. The Sea Warriors coasted to the 25-17 win as Kapis nearly emptied his bench.
