Box Score HONOLULU, HI (November 2, 2013) – The Hawai'i Pacific Volleyball Team (16-8, 10-6) sent seniors
Jamie Asuncion,
Makamae Recca, and
Chelsey Buyuan out in style as HPU swept Dominican University of California (9-17, 6-10) in the season's final home match (28-26, 25-22, 25-17).
 "It was exciting to have all three seniors on the court playing well as the match ended in front of our fans," said HPU Head Coach
Daryl Kapis. "Hopefully that is something that they will remember for the rest of their lives."
The Sea Warriors picked up where they left off on Friday night by ripping off a 7-0 run to start the opening set. Stunned, but not knocked out, the Penguins rallied to take an 11-10 lead. From there, the set was back and forth. The set was knotted at 24 when
Haley Doerfler got a kill to put HPU on the brink. However, Dominican scored the next two points to force HPU to be perfect. The Sea Warriors were just that, depositing three consecutive kills to end the set. Â
Set two was a dogfight from the beginning; it featured 10 ties and two lead changes. The seesaw affair found HPU trailing 20-18 before the Sea Warriors kicked it in gear. Three consecutive miscues by the Penguins put HPU back in front. After Dominican retied the set at 21, two more errors cost the visitors.
Samantha Rummans picked up the kill for the 24th point of the set and another Penguin error ended it. Nine of the final 11 points scored by the Sea Warriors were on some type of error by Dominican.
Dominican flashed some life to start the third set, taking a 5-4 lead. However, there would be no comeback. HPU scored nine of the next 10 points to take control. At 14-8, Recca entered the match and promptly got a kill on her first swing to a thunderous ovation from the home crowd. Buyuan then turned the clock back to her outside hitter days as she put away three consecutive balls to the delight of the fans. Asuncion was also on the floor and gave HPU supporters something to remember her by as she had two acrobatic digs down the stretch. Â

Pomai Recca and sophomore
Kasey Thompson led the team with nine kills each. Thompson also had three total blocks as Recca hit for a .304 average.
Marie Fujii had a team-high 23 assists with
Amanda Moriarty leading the team with 13 digs.
With the home schedule now complete, HPU will play the final four matches on the road. Up first is a trip to St. George, UT to play Dixie State on November 9th.
