Kaneohe, HI (March 9, 2013)- The Hawai'i Pacific (8-8, 1-5) Softball Team dropped a pair of games to California Baptist (11-8, 5-5) on a windy, rainy day at Howard A. Okita Field. The Sea Warriors dropped game one 12-1 and fell in game two 7-0.
In game one the Lancers would get to starter
Melissa Kirby early, chasing her after just an inning and a third. The Sea Warriors scratched across a run in the fifth, but it wouldn't be enough and the game would end in the fifth with the Sea Warriors trailing by 11.
Kristen Caskey got the start in game two for the Sea Warriors, shutting down the Lancers through the first two innings before giving up seven runs in the third. Caskey would settle down, only allowing two runs the rest of the game. HPU loaded the bases in the fourth, but could not come up with the big hit, falling 7-0 in game two.
Keile Elderts led the way for the Sea Warriors with three base-hits in the doubleheader.
Caira Pires drew a walk in all three of her at-bats.
The HPU women return to action on Monday facing Dixie State College at Howard A. Okita Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
