TURLOCK, CA (April 5, 2013) - The Hawai'i Pacific Softball Team (18-14) dropped game two of the Mizuno Tournament of Champions, 1-0, to Simon Fraser (18-14).
The game featured Sea Warrior ace
Kristen Caskey in a pitcher's duel, as both pitchers combined to only allow seven hits in the entire game. Caskey gave up just one run on five hits while striking out three. The only run the Clan managed to score came on a double-steal in the fourth inning.
HPU threatened, getting runners in scoring position in the third and fourth innings, but failed to push a run across both times.
Caskey and
Chante Tesoro each had hits for the Sea Warriors while
Caira Pires and Sharae Esperecion each earned walks.
Pool play for the Tournament on Champions continues tomorrow as the Sea Warriors have games at 8:45 AM, 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM against Western Oregon, Notre Dame de Namur and Cal State Stanislaus respectively.
