LA JOLLA, CA (March 15, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (11-0) faced 12th ranked UCSD (9-6) and beat them soundly, 7-2. HPU, the nation's fifth ranked team, kept a firm hold on the top spot in the West Region with the win.   
 
HPU was strong at the top in doubles action, winning the first two matches. Jaume Martinez-Vich/Mattis Wetzel got the Sea Warriors on the board first with a 8-1 win at second doubles. Thibaud Berland/Petr Michnev were not far behind with an 8-4 win, putting HPU up 2-0
 
Berland picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory at third singles to give HPU its third point. Second ranked Michnev had little trouble at first singles with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph. Martinez-Vich then put the match on ice with a straight set win at second singles. Wetzel and Adriano Locorotondo also went unchallenged in their singles wins.     
 
The Sea Warriors now head to Las Vegas for three matches beginning Monday vs. Fresno Pacific.
