Box Score TURLOCK, CA (April 3, 2014)-- The Hawai`i Pacific Softball Team (14-15) earned a 7-5 victory over Cal State Stanislaus (10-28) on Thursday. The game was the final tune-up for both teams before the Tournament of Champions.
HPU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with two runs in the first inning followed by one more in the second.
The Warriors answered with four unearned runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead.
After a scoreless third, the Sea Warriors picked up a pair of runs in the top of the fourth on a
Sharae Esprecion RBI-triple followed by a
Keila Elderts sacrifice fly.
HPU picked up an insurance run in the sixth on a
Chandell Dacosin RBI-single and another in the seventh from a
Kayla Sanchez solo home run to win 7-5.

Kristen Caskey went four innings without giving up an earned run for the win. Dacosin came on in relief in the fifth inning to pick up the three-inning save.
Elderts, Sanchez and Esprecion each registered a pair of RBI while Elderts and Esprecion each added two runs scored.
HPU will kick off the Tournament of Champions presented by the Turlock Convention & Visitors Bureau with a triple header tomorrow. The Sea Warriors face Cal State Monterey Bay at 1:15 p.m., followed by Northwest Nazarene at 4:15 p.m. and eventually Sonoma State at 8:15 p.m. in the nightcap.
