LA JOLLA, CA (March 16, 2015) – The second-ranked Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (11-0) won its third consecutive match, and fourth of the season, against an ITA Top 25 team on Monday in Southern California. This time HPU shutout #22 St. Edwards 9-0 on a neutral court.
The top doubles team of
Thibaud Berland and
Yann Renault blasted the competition 8-2 to get HPU on the board. The duo of
Jakub Hadrava and
Jaume Martinez-Vich continued their hot play by doubling up the opposition, 8-4. HPU earned a 3-0 lead after
Marko Lenz and
Maik Burlage eked out a 9-7 win in the second position.
Lenz and Berland were in sync in singles, each winning 6-0, 6-3. Double partners Hadrava and Martinez-Vich also posted the same scores (6-4, 6-1), just in reverse order. Burlage (6-2, 6-1) and Renault (6-4, 6-0) also picked up relatively easy wins.
The Sharks return to the court tomorrow when they face #12 Azusa Pacific in La Jolla.
