SAN DIEGO, CA (March 17, 2015) – The top two men's tennis teams in the PacWest and West Region met on a neutral court on Tuesday with second-ranked Hawai'i Pacific (12-0) overpowering #12 Azusa Pacific (10-3) to the tune of a 9-0 score.
The doubles teams of
Thibaud Berland/
Yann Renault and
Jakub Hadrava/
Jaume Martinez-Vich each scored twice as much as their opponents, wining 8-4. The second doubles team of
Marko Lenz and
Maik Burlage grinded out a 9-7 victory to keep the Sharks perfect on the day.
HPU really imposed its will during singles play. Berland (6-2, 6-2) and Martinez-Vich (6-0, 6-2) each rolled to easy wins at the top two spots in the lineup. Burlage and Renault experienced similar results, both posting 6-1, 6-2 triumphs. Hadrava (7-5, 6-4) and
Clemens Graute (7-6, 6-2) also won in straight sets after being pushed in the first.
HPU will try to end the road trip at a perfect 6-0, but will face #5 Armstrong State tomorrow (March 18th) on a neutral court.
