MANOA, HI (March 9, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (6-0) stayed undefeated with a 7-0 win against Division I Cleveland State (5-5) on Monday at the University of Hawaii Tennis Complex.

Although the Sharks lost a match, HPU still got the shutout, thanks to Division I rules. The Sharks picked up victories at first and third doubles to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Thibaud Berland and Marko Lenz opened the match with a 6-3 win while Jaume Martinez-Vich and Jakub Hadrava had a similar experience, winning 6-4.

The Sharks, the nation's #2 team in D2, kept the momentum in singles play, not dropping a single set. Berland and Martinez-Vich encountered little resistance each winning 6-2, 6-2. Lenz and Hadrava also posted the exact same results, a pair of 6-4, 6-4 victories. Maik Burlage (6-2, 7-5) and Yann Renault (6-3, 6-4) kept the Sharks unblemished in singles with straight set triumphs.

HPU returns to the court tomorrow when it hosts Emory University at 11:00 am at Ala Moana Park. Although a Division III school, Emory is a perennial power.
