SURPRISE, AZ (April 17, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (20-0) punched its ticket to the league championship with a 5-0 win over #40 Point Loma (12-10).
Men's Tennis showed why it is ranked #1 in the nation with a sweep in its first postseason match.
The doubles duo of Maik Burlage and Marko Lenz blanked their opponents 8-0 at second doubles. The fifth ranked team of Thibaud Berland and Yann Renault continued to roll with an 8-4 win at the top of the lineup. Jaume Martinez-Vich and Clemens Graute kept HPU perfect with an 8-6 triumph.
The Sharks kept the momentum going into singles. Martinez-Vich (#15) quickly disposed of his opponent 6-2, 6-1 at third singles. Berland (#8) ended the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the second position. With HPU up 5-0, the match was halted.
The Sharks will play for the PacWest Championship tomorrow at 9:00 am against #11 Azusa Pacific in Surprise.
