SURPRISE, AZ (May 13, 2015) – The top ranked Hawai'i Pacific Men's Tennis Team (22-0) announced its presence at the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament with a 5-0 win over #27 St. Edward's (11-9) in the Round of 16.
The Sharks took control early with wins from the doubles teams of 
Maik Burlage/
Marko Lenz (8-5) and 
Clemens Graute/
Jaume Martinez-Vich (8-4). The Sharks made it a clean doubles sweep when the nation's best doubles team of 
Thibaud Berland and 
Yann Renault grinded out a 9-7 victory at first doubles.
Second-ranked Lenz had little trouble at first singles winning 6-0, 6-3 to put HPU up 4-0. Berland (#8) then sent HPU into the next round with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the second position. Renault and 
Jakub Hadrava each won a set before the match was stopped.
HPU will now face #49 Bluefield State, who upset #18 NYIT, in the national quarterfinals tomorrow (May 14th) at noon on a neural court in Surprise, AZ.
