Women’s Basketball Downs Dixie State

Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah (January 30, 2016)Breanna Mackenzie continues to set the pace offensively for the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team, which posted a key road victory, 70-61, over Dixie State University at Burns Arena.
 
The Sharks (12-7 overall, 9-3 PacWest) won their third straight game and leaned on Mackenzie, who made seven-of-14 from the field and connected on three treys.
 
Freshman guard Janessa Manzano also had the hot hand, racking up 17 points on six-for-10 shooting, including a team-leading four 3-pointers, and dishing out three assists. Guard Brianne Yasukochi also scored in double figures (13 points), thanks in part to nine free throws, and added three assists.
 
Mackenzie, a sophomore from Australia, has paced the Sharks offensively as of late, scoring 175 points over her last nine games. She is currently averaging north of 17 points per game on the season and also averages 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per contest.
 
The Red Storm (4-14, 4-8) was led by a game-high 26 points from Taylor Mann.
 
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, continues its five-game away stretch with a tilt against Azusa Pacific on Monday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
