Breanna Mackenzie, the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team won its fifth consecutive game via a 79-57 victory over Fresno Pacific in a PacWest Conference clash at the Special Events Center.
The Sharks (7-4 overall, 4-0 PacWest) were buoyed by a hot-shooting Mackenzie, who connected on 9-of-16 shots from the field and made five of her 11 3-point attempts. The guard also notched five rebounds and two assists, while
Cece Pearl worked hard in the pain to the tune of 13 points and nine rebounds.
Janessa Manzano chipped in 11 points and nailed three treys and teammates
Jessi Reeves and
Aminata Cole posted eight points apiece in the blowout. Point guard
Brianne Yasukochi dished out five assists, while Reeves also shared the wealth with a team-high seven assists.
The Sunbirds (2-9, 0-5) were led by 13 points and 10 boards from Taylor Caspers.
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, continues its three-game California road stretch with a conference matchup at Notre Dame de Namur (Belmont, Calif.) on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m.
