Breanna Mackenzie, the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team could not overcome 23 turnovers and fell for the first time in seven games, 81-68, to Academy of Art in a PacWest Conference matchup at Kezar Pavilion.
The Sharks (8-5 overall, 5-1 PacWest) leaned on Mackenzie, who connected on 10-of-26 shots from the field, but made just one of her seven 3-point attempts in addition to corralling eight rebounds. Mackenzie has led the Sharks offensively as of late having scored 69 points over her last three games and is currently averaging 17.1 points per game.

Aminata Cole turned in her second consecutive double-double effort with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while
Spencer Gray dished out a team-leading five assists.
Jessi Reeves notched seven points and five rebounds.
The Sharks were hindered by their high turnover count, which led to 30 points from ARTU. HPU also struggled at the free throw line, converting just 14-of-30 attempts from the charity stripe.
The conference-leading Urban Knights (12-5, 7-0) were buoyed by Zoie Sheng (18 points), Jasmin Guinn (17 points) and Regina Camera (14 points).
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, returns home to host conference foe Dominican (Calif.) University at the Neal Blaisdell Arena on Jan. 14 at 4:30 p.m. The Sharks then host a rematch with the Urban Knights on Jan. 16, also at the Blaisdell Arena at 1 p.m.
