Breanna Mackenzie sent the game to overtime, the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team withstood the charge from a scrappy Chaminade squad.
The Sharks defeated their cross-city foes for the 22
nd consecutive time dating back to 2007 with a 69-63 PacWest Conference victory that took six periods to complete at McCabe Gym.
The Sharks (14-9 overall, 11-5 PacWest) received 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals from guard
Spencer Gray, who clutched up and drained all eight of her free-throw attempts.
Mackenzie, who struggled on offense making 6-of-24 shots from the field and 3-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc, finished with 17 points including the all-important triple to send the game to bonus time.
Janessa Manzano played 46 minutes after three teammates ended up fouling out and racked up 16 points, including seven via free throws. Post players

Aminata Cole combined to pull down 17 rebounds in a game that featured 11 ties and five lead changes.
Mackenzie, a sophomore from Australia, has buoyed the Sharks offensively as of late, scoring 251 points over her last 13 games. She is scoring upwards of 17 points per game on the season and also averages 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per contest.
The Silverswords (5-15, 5-10) were led by Lilia Maio's 18 points and 16 rebounds.
The Sharks overcame a six-point deficit early on and eventually took a 33-32 halftime advantage behind 10 first-half points from Manzano. Mackenzie hit two treys in the first stanza and netted eight points to help the visitors take the lead into the locker room.
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, returns home to Moanalua High School for a tilt against Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.
