Mackenzie’s 29 Points Helps Women’s Hoops down Argonauts

Box Score HONOLULU (February 13, 2016)Breanna Mackenzie tied her career high with 29 points and helped the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team defeat Notre Dame de Namur 67-63 in come-from-behind fashion at Moanalua High School.
 
The Sharks (15-9 overall, 12-5 PacWest) trailed by two points after three quarters, but outscored the Argonauts 22-16 in the fourth frame to secure the victory.
 
Mackenzie scored 29 points for the second time this season and made 10-of-21 shots from the field and 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point arc. The sophomore also pulled down four rebounds and posted three steals in the victory, during which she played all 40 minutes.
 
Janessa Manzano added 15 points and the freshman also hit two treys. Post player Aminata Cole corralled a game-high 13 rebounds and added seven points while also blocking two shots.
 
Mackenzie, a sophomore from Australia, has buoyed the Sharks offensively as of late, scoring 280 points over her last 14 games. She is scoring 18 points per game on the season and also averages 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals per contest.
 
The Argonauts (3-21, 2-14) received 19 points apiece from Kirsten Liana and Lindsay Bates.
 
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, returns to Moanalua High School for a tilt against UH Hilo on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.
