Box Score HONOLULU (February 25, 2016) – Despite receiving 17 points apiece from
Cece Pearl and
Breanna Mackenzie, the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team fell to Point Loma, 81-67, in PacWest Conference action at Moanalua High School.
The Sharks (16-11 overall, 13-7 PacWest) also received 12 points from
Jessi Reeves, who pulled down five rebounds in the post.
Spencer Gray facilitated the offense for most of the game and finished with five assists, five points, four rebounds and two steals.
Aminata Cole pulled down a team-high eight boards and notched eight points before fouling out in 20 minutes.
Mackenzie, a sophomore from Australia, has paced the Sharks offensively as of late, scoring 313 points over her last 16 games. She is scoring 18 points per game on the season and also averages 6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals per contest.
HPU trailed 33-32 at halftime despite receiving 12 points from Mackenzie before intermission.
The Sea Lions (18-9, 11-8) received a game-high 27 points from Alex Brunk.
The Sharks have already clinched fourth place in the conference and earned the fourth seed in the PacWest's six-team postseason tournament. The tourney runs March 3-5 in Irvine, Calif., and tickets are currently available at www.ThePacWest.com.
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, returns to Moanalua High School for Senior Day against BYU-Hawaii on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
