Breanna Mackenzie racked up a game-high 27 points and helped the Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team post an 87-68 victory over Concordia University Irvine in a PacWest Conference showdown at CU Arena.
The Sharks (13-8 overall, 10-4 PacWest) received a 20-plus point effort from Mackenzie for the second time in four nights, and the Aussie has scored in double figures in all but two of HPU's 21 games this season.
Mackenzie also posted seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal and led the squad with four 3-point buckets.
Aminata Cole continued her stellar season in the post with another double-double effort that netted 11 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow forwards
Cece Pearl and
Jessi Reeves notched 12 points apiece, while guards
Spencer Gray and
Brianne Yasukochi dished out seven and six assists to pace the offensive outburst.
Mackenzie, a sophomore from Australia, has buoyed the Sharks offensively as of late, scoring 222 points over her last 11 games. She is scoring nearly 18 points per game on the season and also averages 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals per contest.
The Eagles (2-18, 1-14) were led by Tyler Crockom's 20 points.
The Sharks took a 45-43 halftime lead thanks in part to three treys from Mackenzie, who notched 11 points in the half.
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, continues its five-game away stretch with a tilt against Point Loma on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.
