Box Score 2 ST. GEORGE, Utah (March 12, 2016) – The Hawaii Pacific softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader on the road to Dixie State University, losing 4-3 in eight innings then falling in the mercy-rule shortened six-inning return matchup 8-0, to conclude a four-game PacWest Conference series.
The Sharks (9-15, 5-7 PacWest) dropped their second extra-inning game in as many days, and did so in walk-off fashion to the same player as Dixie's Jessica Gonzalez doubled home the game-winning run in the opener; a day prior, she blasted a walk-off 3-run homer to stun the visiting squad.
HPU freshman
Dominique Walker continued her hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, while
Kiana Wolfe doubled in 2 runs in the 7
th inning to send the game to an extra frame. Sharks pitcher
Kristen Caskey (4-5) was saddled with the loss after surrendering 4 runs on 9 hits in the complete-game effort.
HPU pitcher
Paige Crawford (3-6) took the loss in the second game after allowing 5 runs on 7 hits through 3 innings.
The Red Storm (17-7, 5-3) was led in the second contest by Mallory Paulson, who doubled and drove in 3 runs.
HPU returns to the friendly confines of Howard A. Okita Field on Thursday, March 17 to host Academy of Art (1/3:30 p.m.) and Saturday, March 19 to host BYU-Hawaii (noon/2:30 p.m.) for a duo of PacWest doubleheaders.
