DENVER, Colo. (March 21, 2016) – The second-ranked Hawaii Pacific men's tennis team swept No. 12 Midwestern State (Tex.) University, 9-0, to remain undefeated in 2016.
The Sharks (12-0) were led by sixth-ranked
Thibaud Berland, who denied No. 27 Kyle Davidson 6-1, 6-1 in the top singles draw. HPU's
Alexander Meyer defeated No. 39 Ramon Toyos in the second singles position 6-1, 6-3, while
Filip Dolezel was victorious in the No. 3 singles slot over Chris Norrie 7-6, 6-3. Sharks players
Torben Otto,
Jakub Hadrava and
Clemens Graute also claimed singles victories.
In doubles action, HPU's tandem of Meyer and Berland teamed up to down the 20
th-ranked duo of Davidson and Toyos, 8-2. The Sharks also received doubles wins from Dolezel and Jaume Martinez Vich (8-6) as well as Hadrava and Otto (8-6).
HPU will remain in Denver to face Cameron (Okla.) University on March 22 before returning to the Islands.
