Box Score 2 KANEOHE, Hawaii (April 16, 2016) – The Hawaii Pacific softball team ended its 12-game losing streak via a doubleheader split with UH Hilo, claiming the opener 14-5 (5 inn.) and dropping the return matchup 9-5, at Howard A. Okita Field.
The Sharks (14-30, 10-16 PacWest) pounded out 13 hits in the opener, and relied on a nine-run third inning that included home runs from
Kayla Sanchez and
Noelani Boyer. Sanchez and
Dominique Walker finished with two RBI apiece, while all but one HPU starter drove in at least one run.

Kristen Caskey (7-9) picked up the win in Game 1 after allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out four through the mercy-rule shortened complete game.
Alexa McCoin (0-7) took the loss in the return matchup after allowing four runs on nine hits in four innings.
Sanchez turned in a stellar overall effort and went 6-for-7 with two doubles, a homer and five RBI over the two contests.
The Vulcans (28-17, 17-9) received two hits apiece from Angela Aguinaga and Chenoa Au in the opener and three hits apiece from Au, Bailey Gaspar and Victoria Garcia in the second game.
HPU concludes its season with a home doubleheader against local rivals Chaminade (April 23 at noon/2:30 p.m.) then finishes up with a double dip at UH Hilo (April 30 at noon/2:30 p.m.).
