Box Score 2 TURLOCK, Calif. (April 2, 2016) – The Hawaii Pacific softball team dropped both its games on the second day of the Tournament of Champions, falling 10-5 to Cal State Monterey Bay and 8-0 (six innings) to Sonoma State at Pedretti Sports Complex.
The Sharks (13-21) saw
Dominique Walker, a freshman catcher, outfielder and designated player, continue her hot streak at the plate and notch two hits and 3 RBI in the first game before adding a single in the second game. Walker has now hit safely in 10 straight and 18 of her last 19 contests, and leads the team with a .363 batting average.
Kayla Sanchez added two hits and two RBI in the first game, while pitcher
Alexa McCoin (0-5) took the loss after allowing five runs and 10 hits in four innings. Annelise Lopez paced the Otters (17-16) offense with a home run and four RBI
HPU pitcher
Alexis Morales (2-3) took the loss in the second contest after giving up eight runs (six earned) via 14 hits and four walks. Sonoma State (20-13) used a balanced offensive attack as all nine starters had at least one hit.
HPU continues its 14-game road swing with the Tournament of Champions, which runs through Sunday, April 3.
