Box Score 2 TURLOCK, Calif. (April 3, 2016) – The Hawaii Pacific softball team lost both its games on the third and final day of the Tournament of Champions, falling 3-2 to Simon Fraser and 8-3 to Cal State Dominguez Hills at Pedretti Sports Complex.
The Sharks (13-23) saw
Dominique Walker, a freshman catcher, outfielder and designated player, continue her hot streak at the plate and notch a hit and an RBI in the first game before doubling in the second game. Walker has now hit safely in 12 straight and 20 of her last 21 contests, and leads the team with a .364 batting average.
Kayla Sanchez (who is currently riding a five-game hitting streak),
Noelani Boyer and
Kiana Wolfe each added two hits against Simon Fraser (22-17), but the Sharks left nine on base, including the potential tying run in the seventh inning.
HPU pitcher
Paige Crawford (5-8) took the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and striking out two. Teammate
Kristen Caskey (6-7) was saddled with the loss in the finale after giving up seven runs (six earned) via eight hits and six walks to Dominguez Hills (13-28).
In the second game, Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, while Wolfe also went 3-for-4 and laced a solo homer in the first inning.
HPU continues its 14-game road swing with doubleheaders against Azusa Pacific (April 5, 4/6:30 p.m.), California Baptist (April 6, 5/7:30 p.m.) and Concordia Irvine (April 8, 2/4:30 p.m.).
