Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, Calif. (April 6, 2016) – The Hawaii Pacific softball team lost both games of a doubleheader with No. 9 California Baptist University, falling 5-0 in the opener and dropping the return matchup 4-2, at Funk Stadium.
The Sharks (13-27, 9-13 PacWest) saw
Dominique Walker, a freshman catcher, outfielder and designated player, continue her 15-game hitting streak with a single in the first game before failing to notch a base knock in the second game. While Walker's impressive streak came to an end, she has hit safely in 23 of her last 25 contests and leads the team with a .364 batting average.
HPU was led at the dish by
Kayla Sanchez and
Noelani Boyer as the sluggers posted a solo home run apiece in the night cap.
Sharks hurler
Alexa McCoin (0-6) was saddled with the loss in the opener after giving up four runs on eight hits through four innings. HPU pitcher
Paige Crawford (5-10) took the loss in the return matchup after surrendering four runs (three earned) on seven hits.
The Lancers (32-6, 15-3) leaned on pitcher Ashley Coleman (13-2), who picked up a victory as the Game 1 starter then tossed four innings of scoreless relief to win the rematch.
HPU concludes its 14-game road swing with a doubleheader against Concordia Irvine (April 8, 2/4:30 p.m.).
