PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 7, 2016) – The top-ranked Hawaii Pacific men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, 7-2, to No. 4 West Florida at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
The Sharks (13-1) saw their two-match winning streak against the Argonauts (16-3) come to an end; when West Florida last defeated HPU in 2014, it was to claim the NCAA Division II championship.

Thibaud Berland continued his undefeated run in singles action and the top-ranked player in the country improved to 11-0 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 36 Juan Pablo Boada. Berland is a two-time PacWest Player of the Week, and last season, was named ITA All-American and PacWest Newcomer of the Year.
Clemens Graute notched the second victory for the Sharks by defeating Douglas Boe 6-1, 7-5 in the sixth singles position.

Alexander Meyer were upset in doubles action by the No. 3 team of Alex Peyrot and Kenny Brasil, 9-8 (8-5). The top-ranked duo is now 13-1 this season.
HPU's men will continue to gear up for the PacWest Championships in Surprise, Ariz. The Sharks face Valdosta State University (April 8 at 3 p.m.), Georgia Gwinnett College (April 9 at 3 p.m.) and Armstrong State University (April 10 at noon) before heading to the league tournament, which kicks off April 13.
