SAVANNAH, Ga. -- No. 1 Hawai'i Pacific University got back on the winning track, handling No. 5 Valdosta State 6-3 at the Armstrong Tennis Center on Friday.

The Sharks (6-3) grabbed its first win on the Georgia trip, while Valdosta (4-3) dropped its first contest in Savannah.

HPU was paced by the play of 34th ranked
Torben Otto, who beat 33rd ranked Xavier Pineda 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and teamed with
Jack Lyttle at No. 2 doubles to beat VSU's 19th ranked doubles pair of Pineda/Leo Blay 8-5. Lyttle was also a double winner as he took No. 6 singles over Eden Peleg 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

VSU's Blay, the third ranked singles player in Division II, beat HPU's 13th ranked Filip Dolzel 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and 20th ranked Fernando Rivas beat
Filip Soban at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3.

HPU also won at No. 3 singles with
Jakub Hadrava over Jordi Mas 6-4, 6-4 and
Juan Erro took No. 5 singles against Davis Steward 7-5, 6-4.

The Sharks, who won two of the three doubles points, also got a win at No. 1 doubles from Dolzel/Hadrava who beat Peleg/Axel Holm 8-6. The Blazers won at No. 3 doubles with Rivas/Mas downing Soban/Erro 8-4.
