SURPRISE, Ariz. – No. 5 Hawai'i Pacific University closed the regular season with a 9-0 non-conference sweep of Western New Mexico on Monday at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Center.
The Sharks (11-4) used the win over the Mustangs (3-18) as a tune up for the PacWest Conference Championships here later this week.
The Sharks were paced by their strong lineup at the top of the order.

Nicole Hoynaski shutout Tiffany Newell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while No. 19
Lara Meccico downed Annely Heinze 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. No. 48
Oceane Adam defeated Gemma Goodland 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
HPU's
Barbora Kijasova beat Jeanne Kolb 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, with Leticia dos Santos beating Nadia Justiniano 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and
Bianca Schulhof over Karina Diaz 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, HPU's ninth ranked duo of Kijasova/Meccico went extra to get by the Mustangs Goodland/Heinze 9-7 at No. 1. Hoynaski/Adam won easily over Newell/Kolb 8-2 at No. 2, and Schulhof/dos Santos defeated Emma Siboni/Justiniano 8-6 at No. 3.
The Sharks, who are seeded second in the PacWest Championships, will play again on Thursday in the quarterfinals at 10:30 a.m. HST (1:30 p.m. PDT) against the winner of Wednesday's match featuring seventh seeded Sonoma State and 10th seeded Holy Names.
