WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Pacific University slipped three spots on Wednesday to finish in 13th at the annual Dennis Rose Invitational at the Kings Course of the Waikoloa Resort.
The Sharks posted a 308 in the final round for a 913 total to finish eight strokes better than Lincoln (Mo.) in 14th with a 921. The Sharks were two strokes behind an 11th place tie at 911 between Dixie State and Drury (Mo.).
Sophomore Keli'i Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama paced the Sharks in the final round, touring the par 72, 7074-yard Kings Course in 3-over-par 75 to finish with a 10-over 226 to tie for 34th.
Senior
Minsu Lee of San Jose, Calif./Willow Glen shot a 4-over 76 in the final round to lead HPU for the tournament with a 9-over 225 to tie for 29th.
Sophomore
Ray Kim of Aiea, Hawai'i/Moanalua had his best round of the tournament firing a 5-over 77 on Wednesday to total 243. Junior
Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley posted an 80 for a 235 final score, while freshman
Blake Mullen of Overland Park, Kan./Olathe East slipped to an 83 in the last round to total 233.
Sonoma State won the team even wire-to-wire finishing with a 286 and a total of 1-under 863. UC San Diego had the best team round with a 285 to tie with Cal State Monterey Bay second at 877.
Monterey Bay's Elis Svard, the third ranked player in Division II, shot a 2-under 70 to win with a 54-hole total of 9-under 207. Sonoma State's Blake Bourelle shot a 3-under 69 to finish second at 4-under 212 and Western Washington's Aidan Thain was third at 213.
UC San Diego's Ryan Vaughan played par golf on Tuesday and is second at 3-under 141, four strokes back. Sonoma State's Blake Bourelle and Western Washington's Aidan Thain are tied for third at 1-under 143.
The tournament concluded the fall season for the HPU men.
