OLYMPIA, Wash. – Freshman
Victoria McQuay is tied for fifth and has helped Hawai'i Pacific University to third after the opening round of the Saint Martin's Women's Invitational at the Olympia Country & Golf Club.
The Sharks posted a first round team score of 362 to sit in the middle of the five-team field in third, six strokes better than Hawai'i Hilo in fourth at 368. Bellevue (Wash.) is fifth at 416. Northwest Nazarene leads the tournament after a 333, with host Saint Martin's second at 339.
McQuay, a freshman from Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run is part of a four-way tie for fifth, seven strokes off the lead, after shooting an 86 on the par 73, 5,802 yard Olympia layout.
Sophomore
Kaley Saludares of Hilo, Hawai'i/Waiakea, a transfer from Concordia Portland, is tied for 11th, two behind McQuay with an 88. Junior
Hannah Brown of San Tan Valley, Ariz./Combs, a transfer from Mesa CC, added an 89 to sit in a tie for third.

Kassidy Dunn of Berlin, Pa./Berlin Borthersvalley added a 99, while freshman
Avery Weil of Colorado Springs, Colo./Maclaren shot a 108.
The individual leader is Saint Martin's Kathryn Crimp who fired a 6-over-par 79. She's a stroke better than Northwest Nazarene's Hannah Holloway at 7-over 80. There's a two-way tie for third at 10-over 83 between NNU's Taylor Entenman and Ragan McGilvery.
The 36-hole tournament concludes on Saturday morning, with the Sharks playing in the final grouping with Saint Martin's and Northwest Nazarene. HPU's tee times start at 7:20 a.m. HST (10:20 PDT).
